Methylenedioxymethamphetamine Facts

Methylenedioxymethamphetamine is a drug that is taken in the form of a pill or a capsule. Sometimes people sniff pure methylenedioxymethamphetamine powder. More commonly, it is available in an adulterated form termed as Ecstasy. It is particularly common among young age groups. The night long or weekend long parties that are becoming popular among teenagers take place at underground clubs called raves. Raves welcome MDMA abuse. People use the drug in groups and thus it has become a symbol of teenage parties. It is unfortunate that eight graders start taking it and continue the abuse into later ages.

Euphoria

The primary motive of using MDMA is the immediate high that it brings. Under the methylenedioxymethamphetamine effects, one feels at the top of the world. MDMA works not only as a natural antidepressant but also induces an intense feeling of euphoria and excitement. Along with this, one feels disinhibited and is likely to engage in any thrilling, risky behavior. Commonly do people end up in risky sexual behaviors like date rapes.

Withdrawal

The very rewarding MDMA high is followed by a comedown usually. The methylenedioxymethamphetamine affects the mood and body in ways most people find unpleasant. The common methylenedioxymethamphetamine effects that accompany the hangover are depression, anxiety, insomnia or sleeplessness, confusion, jitteriness, fatigue and body aches. These are the MDMD withdrawal symptoms and make one crave for the drug in order to “Deal” with the adverse mood states.

In long term, the methylenedioxymethamphetamine effects include memory impairments: one fails to form new memories and retain information.

Statistics

Unfortunately, people start abusing methylenedioxymethamphetamine from a very early age. Statistics in 2010 on methylenedioxymethamphetamine show that 3.3 % of 8th graders in the United States reported to have used MDMA at least once in their lifetime and 2.4 % reported to have used in the past year. As people move further into teenage, the abuse statistics get worse. In 2010 6.4 % of the tenth grader reported having used methylenedioxymethamphetamine, and 4.7 % reported using it in the past year. The 12th graders showed higher statistics. 7.3 % of the 12ht grader in America reported having used MDMA, and 4.5 % reported having used it in the past year.

In 2009, .3 % of the total population in America reported using MDMA in the prior month.  Overall population that used MDMA in the entire lifetime increased from 4.3 % in 2002 to 5.7 % in 2009. Notice that the population using MDMA mostly consult of teenagers and young people.

Health Hazards

Methylenedioxymethamphetamine information states that it interferes with the body’s mechanism of temperature regulation. It therefore can cause hyperthermia. Methylenedioxymethamphetamine effects also include an increased heart rate and blood flow. Therefore it is particularly dangerous for people with coronary disease or vulnerability, blood pressure issues and kidney or liver problems.

Methylenedioxymethamphetamine information suggests that as it is a natural antidepressant, it works by interfering with the brain’s neurotransmitter systems. It also causes the serotonin and dopamine concentrations fall and one gets prone to psychotic illnesses, aggression, and mood instability.
